Los Gigantes is one of Tenerife’s most striking landscapes: enormous west-coast cliffs, deep Atlantic water and views towards La Gomera on a clear day. It is worth visiting without rushing, especially if you are driving around the island.
Best viewpoints
Start with an official viewpoint and take time to look along the cliff line. Light changes through the day, with late afternoon often particularly attractive. Park only where permitted and keep clear of road edges.
Boat trips
Los Gigantes is a common departure point for boat trips along the cliffs and, in some seasons, wildlife-viewing trips. Choose a licensed operator, check sea conditions and understand the cancellation policy before booking.
Beach and harbour
The harbour area is useful for a walk, a meal and organising excursions. Nearby beaches are small and conditions vary, so follow flags and local safety advice before swimming.
Driving there
The west coast is scenic but can involve bends and slower roads. Leave enough daylight for your return, keep water in the car and do not plan too many stops in one day. Los Gigantes combines well with Playa de La Arena, Masca or a south-coast base.
