South Tenerife has much more than resort beaches. With a car and a flexible plan, you can find fishing villages, volcanic viewpoints, quieter coast and routes that show a different side of the island.

Choose a direction

Head west for Los Gigantes and coastal scenery, east for El Médano and a windier shoreline, or inland towards Vilaflor and Teide. One direction per day is enough.

Small places, slow travel

Stop in local towns for a walk or meal, use official parking and avoid blocking narrow streets. The best discoveries often happen when you leave time between planned stops.

Coast safety

Follow flags and local notices at every beach or natural pool. Dramatic scenery does not guarantee safe swimming.

Practical road-trip advice

Take water, sun protection and a light layer. Keep fuel in the car and allow more time than navigation apps suggest on mountain roads.
