Punta del Hidalgo is a dramatic north-east Tenerife stop with natural pools, a distinctive lighthouse and access to coastal and mountain scenery. It is especially rewarding on a clear day, but the Atlantic deserves respect.
Natural pools and sea safety
Check flags, barriers and local notices before swimming. Strong swell can make pools unsafe, and closures must be respected. If the sea is rough, enjoy the views from shore instead.
Lighthouse and coastal walk
The lighthouse is an easy landmark for a coastal walk. Wear footwear with grip, keep away from slippery rock edges and take sun protection and water.
PR-TF 10 and walking plans
For longer walks, use official route information and confirm current conditions. Take layers; weather in this part of Tenerife can change quickly.
Getting there
A car makes Punta del Hidalgo easy to combine with La Laguna or Anaga. Park only in marked areas and leave enough time for the return on winding roads.
