Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas offer many hotels, beaches, restaurants and evening options. It is a strong choice for a beach-first holiday and for easy access to the airport.
Stay in the north for towns and greenery
Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and the surrounding area feel more local and Atlantic. The weather can be more variable, but the scenery, gardens, old centres and access to Teide are excellent.
Use a car to avoid a false choice
A hire car makes either base work better. From the south, you can explore the north on a full day out; from the north, you can reach southern beaches when the weather suits you.
