Taganana, in the Anaga Rural Park, is one of Tenerife’s most spectacular drives. The road descends through mountain scenery towards a small village and dramatic north-east coast.
The drive through Anaga
Allow plenty of time. Roads are narrow, winding and sometimes affected by cloud or rain. Drive slowly, use official viewpoints and avoid stopping in unsafe places.
Coast and beaches
The coast around Taganana is wild and beautiful, but Atlantic conditions can be powerful. Follow signs and local advice; a beach that looks inviting may not be safe for swimming.
Walks and nature
Use marked routes, check weather and take water, layers and suitable footwear. Anaga is protected landscape: stay on trails and take all litter away.
Practical route planning
Combine Taganana with a small number of Anaga stops, not the whole peninsula in one day. A flexible car route works best when weather decides the order.
