That is a shame, because it combines viewpoints, vegetation, water, local history and a very pleasant sense of calm, making it ideal for a short stop without committing to a long excursion.

If you are touring Tenerife by car, this park fits very well between La Laguna, Tacoronte, Casa del Vino, the La Garañona viewpoint or the El Sauzal coast. You do not need half a day. You need to arrive without rushing, slow down and let the sound of the water do its work.

What is Los Lavaderos Park?

Los Lavaderos was, as its name makes clear, an old washing place connected with water and everyday life in the municipality. El Sauzal Town Council explains that an important natural spring emerged here, with tanks used for washing clothes. Over time, the site was transformed into an approximately 8,000-square-metre park and viewpoint with paths, seating areas, gardens, waterfalls and views across northern Tenerife.

What makes the park attractive is that it does not feel like an ordinary viewpoint. It has covered corners, abundant vegetation, water spouts, small changes in level and a mixture of carefully tended garden and local memory. You do not come only to admire the landscape; you also come to understand how water once shaped daily life in the highland towns.

In 2026, the opening hours published by El Sauzal Town Council are:

• November to the end of March: 08:00 to 19:00.
• April to the end of October: 08:00 to 22:00.

As with any municipal space, there may be occasional closures for maintenance, safety or events. If you are travelling there specifically from a long distance, particularly late in the day, check the municipal website or call the Town Council.

The Town Council lists two entrances to the park. Entrance A is on Calle Los Lavaderos, with no street number, at the corner with Calle Sierva de Dios. Entrance B is on Carretera de Los Ángeles, opposite Pasaje Sierva de Dios. Both are within central El Sauzal, so access by car is straightforward if you use navigation.

From Santa Cruz or La Laguna, the normal route is along the northern motorway and up to central El Sauzal. From Puerto de la Cruz, it is also a convenient stop if you are heading towards Tacoronte, La Laguna or Santa Cruz. Parking availability in the area varies by time of day, so do not leave it until the last minute if you have a booking afterwards.

Access to the El Sauzal coast is regulated by opening hours, so it is best not to improvise late in the day. The Town Council publishes summer access hours of 08:00 to 22:00 and hours of 08:00 to 19:00 during the rest of the year. If you want to drive down, check the municipal information first and be patient: the road is narrow and beautiful, and parking capacity is limited.

Is it worth visiting if I only have a few days in Tenerife?

It depends on your type of trip. If it is your first visit and you have only three full days, you may prioritise Mount Teide, Anaga, La Laguna or a beach. But if you are touring the north, Los Lavaderos is a low-effort, high-reward stop.
