Arico offers a quieter side of south-east Tenerife: rural landscapes, small coastal stops and the well-known fishing village of Tajao. It is best explored by car at an unhurried pace.
Visit Tajao for the coast and food
Tajao is known for seafood restaurants and a working-coast atmosphere. Check opening times, book in busy periods and treat the harbour area with respect.
Rural Tenerife
Inland Arico has dry volcanic scenery, terraced land and roads that reveal a less resort-focused island. Use navigation carefully and do not block narrow local access roads when stopping.
Beach and sea safety
Small coves and coastal areas can be appealing, but conditions vary. Follow local notices and choose a supervised beach if the sea is rough.
Plan a simple route
Combine Arico with El Médano or a south-east coastal drive. Take water, sun protection and enough time for the return; the appeal is in travelling slowly, not collecting stops.
